| 1 Line Troop was established as a unit of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals on 23 October 1952. Deactivated on 31 August 1968 it became known as Heavy Line Troop under 2 Squadron of the 1st Canadian Signal Regiment. The role of 1 Heavy Line Troop was to install, maintain and remove cable and antenna systems in support of the Canadian Forces. The unit reverted to 1 Line Troop under Canadian Forces Communication Command on 1 September 1970. In the summer of 1975, the Troop became a unit of 70 Communication Group, Trenton. 1 Line Troop was reorganized under the command of 76 Communication Group on 1 July 1983. And on 1 September 1992 1 Line Troop became a unit under the command of 79 Communication Regiment. |
