An early First World War identity disc to Corporal C.S. (Clarence Scott) Hewitt, MM. Early in the war, the identity disc was a single aluminum disc worn around the next on a cord. Later in the war, the discs changed to be a fiber material that came in two parts, one which was to remain on the body and a second that was to be removed for reporting purposes.
