The military, being the military, is governed by numerous regulations, orders and authorities. This page is a partial list of those pertaining to signals and communications. A note beside each gives an indication on what general area the authority deals with such as dress regulations, organizations etc.

There are many sources of regulations and orders. Some of the common ones are "General Orders" (GO), "Canadian Army Orders" (CAO), "SD1 Letters" (SD1), "SD2 Letters" (SD2), "Ministerial Organization Orders" (MOO) and "Canadian Forces Organizational Orders" (CFOO). In many cases, the subject matter of the order remained unchanged but, in different era, it was promulgated via different means.
