Symbolism

Badge

The white and blue colours are signal colours. The lower section and the narrow central bar, both wavy and blue, indicate the geographical location of Kingston at the junction of the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario. The Martello towers indicate the strategic heritage of Kingston as well as the defensive aspects of electronic warfare operations. The two towers illustrate Kingston’s unique position of having the greatest number of these structures in North America. The sword represents the double edged (active/passive) capabilities of electronic warfare, and its evolvement as an asset in the army order of battle. The three orbits of electrons are indicative of the world of communication and of the electronic battlefield of the future, on which electronic warfare is expected to play an ever-increasing and prominent role.

Motto

Meaning “Always vigilant”.
