The role of a Signal Sub-Section for Royal Field Artillery Brigade in the First World War was to provide communications for R.F.A Brigade assigned at the Corps level. As the number of R.F.A. brigades within a corps was not fixed, the establishment was kept separate from the Corps Signal Company War Establishment and the required number of signal sub-sections would be attached to the company as needed.
