Pocket badges are worn with various uniforms to denote the unit being served with. In Canadian use they are used to show what command the bearer works for and are affixed directly to the dress uniform. For overseas use with the United Nations, it denoted the mission or unit the bearer was serving with. In such cases it is common to have the badge affixed to a piece of leather with has a hole so that it may be place over a pocket button.
