Biography[1]

Lieutenant-Colonel Alexandre Côté was raised in Roberval, Québec. He joined the Canadian Forces in 1998. Upon completion of his degree in Mathematics and Computer Sciences with specialization at the Royal Military College of Canada and his basic signal officer training, he was posted in 2004 as Alpha Troop Commander of 5th Canada Mechanized Brigade Group (CMBG) Signal Squadron in Valcartier. In August 2005, he was deployed as a Signal Staff Officer within the NATO Headquarter J6 cell, in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

In April 2006, he was posted to 5th Combat Engineer Regiment as the unit’s Regimental Signal Officer. In May 2007, Lieutenant-Colonel Côté was posted to 5th CMBG Headquarter (HQ) as the G6 Operations and Plans officer. He also filled the Brigade Information Management Officer’s duties at the same time. In January 2009, he did start the high readiness training of the Joint Task Force Afghanistan Brigade HQ 6-09 as the J3 Information Management officer. He deployed to Afghanistan in that same position in October 2009.

In November 2011, upon his return from Afghanistan, Lieutenant-Colonel Côté was posted to the Canadian Army HQ, in Director Land Command and Information / Army G6, as the Information Management Plans and Policies officer, a position which he occupied for almost two years. Afterward he occupied, for a year, the Information Management Operations officer position within the same directorate.

In June 2013, Lieutenant-Colonel Côté became Commanding Officer 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Headquarters and Signal Squadron, a duty which he fulfilled until June 2015.

After completion of the Joint Command Support Program in 2015 in Toronto, Lieutenant-Colonel Côté was posted in July 2016 to Military Personnel Generation Headquarters at the Director of Personnel Generation where he led the Army Communication Information Systems Specialist Occupational Analysis.

After promotion to his current rank, Lieutenant-Colonel Côté became, in July 2017, the Senior Staff Officer for Cyber and Communications & Electronics at the Joint Delegation of Canada to NATO in Brussels, Belgium, a position he held for 4 years.

Lieutenant-Colonel Côté recently moved back to Canada as the Commanding Officer Designated for 77 Line Regiment, a position planned to be assumed in August 2021. He is happily married to Marie-Ève Bédard and has three sons and a daughter, Elliot, Xavier, Thomas and Charlotte. He is an avid hockey player and enjoys travelling with all his family.
