4 Signal Squadron on exercise (5)

Caption: The Army's Mechanized jockeys ... Racing against time, the Army's despatch riders maintain rapid communications between advancing troops and their rear headquarters. Personnel of the 4 Signal Squadron, part of Canada's NATO Brigade in Germany, have been constantly practicing and improving their methods during recent training at Soltau in Northern Germany. They were responsible for receiving, transmitting and dispatching all messages in the field. Seen astride his motorcycle is Signalman Mons Caldwell, receiving a dispatch from Signalman Mike Campbell.
