Caption: The ingenuity of the Canadian soldier is renowned and more so during the training exercises at Soltau, Germany, where the 4th Canadian Infantry Brigade Group are undergoing three weeks of manoeuvres. One of the main operational points at the headquarters of Canada's NATO brigade is the message centre, where messages are relayed to different units of the brigade and throughout Germany and Europe to England and Canada. Three Nova Scotia soldiers work in this "nerve centre", which is currently undergoing training on the NATO training ranges. Left to right: Cpl. Gerry Keast, message centre supervisor, and Sgt. Allen Hopkins, Troop Sergeant of Main Troop, 4 Signal Squadron.

The vehicle in the photograph is a M152 Panel Truck
