Air Support Signal Troop, Wainwright, 1964

Photo taken during the Summer Concentration of 1964 at Wainwright. Picture shows Air Support Signal Troop providing GLO (Ground Liaison Officer) circuit from No 1 Airstrip at Wainwright to the Airhead at RCAF Station Namao. Circuit consisted of both landline TTY and HF. The two M152 3/4-ton vehicles in the photo are Air Sp Sig Tp ‘Tentacles’ (one primary and one back-up) equipped with HF, VHF and from time to time UHF, as required (to talk to close air support fighters).
