Capt Symington, a member of 5 Construction Section, 1 Canadian Line of Communication Signals and from Montreal Quebec, was killed on 6 May 1945, one day after the surrender of the German forces in the Netherlands, when his jeep struck a mine. He is buried at Holten Canadian War Cemetery.
